No disrespect to Twitter. But, still.

Twitter, the free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users' updates (otherwise known as tweets), caught the back of my hand the other day (). I used it as an example of the Web 2.0 stuff unlikely to spawn the Next Truly Big Things.  I’m not alone ( Andy Grove On Web 2.0 And The Valley: Slackers ).   Neither had I considered all the possibilities (The Recession Can't Break Twitter -). Ignoramous me.  Hey, I’m all for anything that can create wealth beyond the founding team.  But I gotta side with Andy “We didn’t have an ‘exit strategy’ at Intel" Grove, just the same.

The Bush Brand: Colossal non-use of PR resources
Barack Obama was not my first choice for president, but his affinity and instinct for communication -- a la Reagan, JFK, and FDR -- stand in stark contrast to his predecessor and will surely serve him well in the difficult... Continue Reading

What I want to hear in tomorrow's inauguration speech
I want Barack Obama to re-state his pledge to bolster the technology industry so we can return to an era of the Next New (Big) Thing.  We need breakthroughs, not more tweets and twitters. No knock on Web 2.0 startups,... Continue Reading

"You go girl." Indeed!
Good to see some people backing up my take on Carol Bartz as being good for Yahoo.  We've done work for both companies.  To say she was "good" for Autodesk is as gross an understatement as saying that Yahoo needs... Continue Reading

Carol Bartz will be good for Yahoo
They were fortunate to reel in Carol Bartz as the new CEO at Yahoo (Yahoo Picks Former Autodesk Chief to Succeed Yang.) I knew her at NetApp (Network Appliance) where she's been a long-time director. Media experience or no, the... Continue Reading
