NFL's post-season system just keeps enhancing the brand. NCAA football and Major League Baseball brands can't compete!
No question about it, the brand attributes of the National Football League runs circles around Major League Baseball when it comes to a playoff schedule and how to get your consumers to feel good about the brand. Another reason why football blew by baseball years ago in popularity.  NFL post-season playoffs, culminating in the Super Bowl, seems more systematic because it is.  Fans feel more engaged and connected to the teams.  Isn't this what every brand strives to do?  My heart’s still with college football, and I’m a baseball fan, too, but helmets off to the NFL when it comes to fulfilling the “brand promise” of ensuring that the best teams, at their best, go head-to-head.  Which means more engagement by customers.  People feel good about it.  NCAA football still flails and stumbles with the flawed Bowl Championship Series (BCS) scheme to determine the national champion.  They've tried, yes, but for two straight years we've had mismatches in the climaxing game.  MLB suffers as well when the champion of one league may have to wait up to a week to play in the World Series as the other league’s champ is still undetermined.  In baseball, this is a serious disadvantage to the team having to play the waiting game, as the fans of the Detroit Tigers found out in 2006 and Colorado Rockies learned last October.  In baseball, teams tend to cool off when you have time off.   It’s a unfair comparison, given the nature of each game, but the NFL brand seems to outscore everybody.
