Ad bashing is one of the more popular pastimes in this industry.  It’s fun and easy.  Especially easy.  Look at the dreck that passes for TV commercials.  The incessant, inane, expensive productions some beleaguered marketing dweebs vetted and their agency honchos sold.  Listen to the intelligence-insulting radio spots hawking everything from re-financing schemes to artery-clogging fast food (especially around lunchtime).   The “snide” factor goes to work in many of these little meadow muffins.  It’s a reflection of our times, of course.  Just as advertising has always held a mirror up to our culture so we can reflect (ugh!) on our reflection.  Still, awash as we are in soporific swill, it makes the really inspired advertising (Nike, Apple, Jack-in-the-Box) stand out like oases in some vast desert.   Great clients make great agencies.  Not surprisingly, the not-so-great make not-so-great ones.  Watch TV tonight and see for yourself.
