Hey, it had to happen:
Albert, Texas – all 13 acres of it – is 50 miles north of San Antonio. It's also up for sale by owner, Bobby Cave, on eBay ! Cave reportedly won’t take anything less than $2.5 million.
My question: why doesn’t eBay have more towns listed?
If this was done for PR, it’s working. And you can bet that it may well ignite a trend. Point is, for marketing and selling anything, to say that the Internet has changed everything is as trite a statement as it is the understatement of the new century.
EBay exists in the web sphere broadly known as “social media”. These include any and all sites where people may gather to do everything from buy and sell products to exchange views about them. New web technology enables and encourages these dialogues and transactions.
Consider the thoughts compiled by Singapore Management University (condensed below, relevant to marketing and branding):
"Some companies are fearful of this, while others take their chances and ride the social media wave to reach greater heights."
"I know it can get scary out there, but what choice do businesses have? The future is here. They can either stay in their bunkers or go out there and participate."
"Consumer-generated media has made marketing no longer just about making and selling but about sensing and responding. Brands that once pushed content at us now ask what we have to say. Advertisements no longer just define our sense of fashion, choices, or identity, but ask us to help define theirs."
Wonder how much Crawford's worth?

This is old news. This is not the first town listed for sell on eBay.
