Just slightly O.T.: I don't know what the connection is between Carly Fiorina, late of Hewlett-Packard, and the San Francisco Chronicle, nor do I care, but the Valentine tone in Learning from Her Past almost made me spill my Grape Nuts this morning.  Carly, who was run out of HPQ last year in one of the more spectacular tar-and-featherings in the history of Silicon Valley is now being credited-- CREDITED -- for the austerity program underway at the company today, under the direction of her successor, Mark Hurd.  By the Chron's lights, and the remarkable, revisionist-history observations of the market analysts quoted in the story, Fiorina was the real instigator of the leaner-meaner H-P.  Hurd merely waltzed in and "executed".  Hmm.  Any H-P folks out there with a different point of view?
